    This position is responsible for developing and managing the overall strategy for GIS External Engagement, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and the broader mission of GIS. While the role owns the strategic direction, successful execution will require close collaboration with other leaders and teams who will be accountable for implementing key initiatives.

     

    Note: This is an individual contributor role. The position does not have direct people management responsibilities but requires strong leadership, influence, and partnership skills to drive outcomes across a global, matrixed organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain the overarching external engagement strategy, ensuring alignment with GIS’s mission and business objectives.

    • Partner with internal leaders and cross-functional teams to drive execution of engagement initiatives, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.

    • Oversee GIS’s participation in external public-private partnerships, representing the organization in strategic forums and industry collaborations.

    • Establish and maintain governance frameworks for external sector engagement, including reporting, compliance, and risk management protocols.

    • Identify and mitigate risks and roadblocks across engagement initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and stakeholder satisfaction.

    • Provide executive-level updates and briefings to GIS leadership and other senior stakeholders, translating complex issues into actionable insights.

    • Partner with Public Policy teams to align on sector engagements, ensuring cybersecurity priorities are represented in regulatory discussions, industry forums, and collaborative

    Required Skills

    • 8-10 years of experience in cybersecurity, public policy, or external affairs, with a proven track record of influencing and driving strategic initiatives.

    • Exceptional relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

    • Advanced project and program management capabilities, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance tracking.

    • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and drive fact-based strategies.

    • Deep understanding of cybersecurity public policy issues and regulatory environments.

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex concepts in clear, compelling formats.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, global, matrixed environment.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; advanced PowerPoint skills for executive presentations.

    Desired Skills

    • Experience engaging with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry coalitions.

    • Familiarity with global cybersecurity frameworks and international policy standards.

    • Prior involvement in public-private partnerships or sector-wide initiatives.

    • Strong understanding of risk management and compliance in highly regulated environments.

     

    Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
