    Job Overview

     

    The Director of Student Engagement coordinates all co-curricular and extracurricular experiences and opportunities for the McCourt School of Public Policy (“McCourt”) student population, including all students in undergraduate and graduate degree programs and visiting students. The Director provides strategic leadership and management of the Office of Student Engagement and supervises the department full-time staff and graduate assistants. The Director supports the McCourt administration and faculty in developing and leading all student onboarding and engagement efforts. The person in this position serves as the administrative lead of McCourt Foundations, McCourt’s experiential course for incoming students in all graduate and undergraduate degree programs. The Director leads efforts to recruit and engage current undergraduate students for the undergraduate major, and supports efforts to build engagement opportunities and support services on the Capitol Campus. The person in this position serves as a conduit to student support resources and oversees marquee events focused on students for McCourt, such as commencement exercises and the Georgetown Public Policy Challenge.

     

    Work Interactions

     

    The Director of Student Engagement reports to the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and supervises the Assistant Director of Student Engagement and the Student Affairs Coordinator. The person in this position supports the Associate Dean and McCourt administration in creating and implementing policies as it relates to student programs and activities. The person in this position interacts with current McCourt faculty and staff, student leaders, Institute of Politics & Public Service, Joint Office of Graduate Studies, Center for Social Justice, Center for Student Engagement, Capitol Applied Learning Lab, Residential Living, Office of the Provost, Capitol Campus Student Affairs, GULC Student Affairs, prospective faculty and students, and potential local, national, and international partners.

    Requirements and Qualifications

    + Masters required.

    + 5-7 years of relevant experience required; 8-10 years preferred.

    + Previous experience with leadership development programming and management of student organizations required; experience in student support services, managing budgets, and staff supervision preferred.

    Pay Range:

    The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

    $66,783.00 - $126,720.23

     

    Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
