UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a Casual Patient & Family Concierge to join their team on 8W/10N (ENT & GI Surgery/Oncology).
The Patient & Family Concierge (PFC) is responsible for providing generalized, compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors during their stay within the hospital. The core goal of the PFC is to create and deliver a top-notch experience for patients, visitors, and colleagues. You will serve in a variety of capacities across the hospital based on ever-changing needs. In the course of the shift, you may assist with patient and visitor destination coordination, environmental services, dietary, patient transport throughout the hospital, supply and equipment management, and administrative support. This position will include patient-facing tasks as well as clerical work, such as answering phones, accurately updating and maintaining patient flow process, coordinating tests and procedures, etc. Above all, the PFC will remain focused on patient and guest satisfaction and quality of care from first to last impression.
Schedule: A mix of 8- and 12-hour shifts, this position will work predominately evening and overnights, weekdays and weekends.
**Title and salary are based on education and experience.
About the Units:
8 West is an 11-bed surgical step-down unit specializing in the care of patients who have undergone head and neck surgical procedures such as total laryngectomy, reconstruction with free flap, tracheotomy, dragonfly/thyroidectomy among others. As a member of the 8W team you will work closely with a world class surgical team in caring for this unique population. You will develop a specialized skill set that will allow you to grow and develop. It is an ideal unit for those that see critical care or surgical nursing in the future. 8W has an outstanding interdisciplinary team that is composed of surgeons, discharge planners, dieticians, respiratory therapists, highly skilled nurses, and patient care assistants that provide comprehensive holistic care. The 8W team provides a supportive environment for learning and growing and is a wonderful place to start or expand your career in Nursing.
10 North is a 25-bed all private room Surgical Oncology unit that focuses on Gastrointestinal and Liver Surgery. The patient population consists of colon, gastric, pancreatic cancer and gastrointestinal disorders that require surgery. The liver population on the unit consists of liver resections, chemotherapy and management of common bile duct injuries. When needed we work closely with Palliative Care and Hospice to provide our patients and families with comprehensive end-of-life care. 10 North provides state-of-the-art oncology care which offers an opportunity to develop professional experience in all areas of surgical care.
Responsibilities:
+ Administrative Support: Coordinate tests, procedures, and transports, manage patient charts, enter physician orders, and update bedboards.
+ Communication & Coordination: Answer calls, provide courteous service, distribute mail, and facilitate quiet time or noise monitoring.
+ Destination Coordination: Greet and escort patients and visitors, provide information while maintaining confidentiality, and assist with parking and patient belongings.
+ Dietary Services: Assemble and serve meals per dietary requirements, ensure food safety, and deliver patient meal trays and nourishments.
+ Transportation Services: Safely transport patients, equipment, and specimens, maintain transport equipment, and track transport activities.
+ Supply & Equipment Management: Order, stock, and organize unit-specific supplies and equipment, monitor expiration dates, and maintain inventory.
+ Safety & Compliance: Follow sanitation and safety protocols, check crash carts and medical equipment, and complete required audits.
+ Environmental Services: Clean and maintain patient rooms and public areas, replenish supplies, and report maintenance issues.

+ Must have the desire, drive, and compassion needed to provide an exceptional patient and family experience at all times.
+ High School diploma OR active High School/GED program enrollment OR one year of previous job experience required in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
+ Previous experience in health care or customer service is a plus but not required.
