Job Description

Department Marketing Statement:

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking a System Configuration Management Administrator to support enterprise-wide desktop, server, and endpoint configuration operations. The incumbent must be highly technical and experienced in managing large-scale configuration management platforms, including Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), BigFix, and Intune. This position is responsible for evaluating, designing, upgrading, and maintaining the technologies used to deploy, update, monitor, and report on system configurations across WMATA¿s 24x7x365 environment.

The System Configuration Management Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring secure, reliable, and compliant system configurations for all Windows operating systems and endpoint devices. The position is central to maintaining operational excellence, supporting cybersecurity standards, improving automation, and ensuring timely delivery of software updates, security patches, and configuration changes across the Authority. The incumbent will also partner closely with Service Delivery and Operations teams to diagnose issues, optimize system performance, and support continuous improvement within WMATA¿s IT service delivery environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum** **Education

+ BachelorsdegreefromanaccreditedcollegeoruniversityinComputerScience orElectrical Engineering.

+ In lieu of degree a high school diploma and an additional four (4) years of experience with the latestversionsofMicrosoft,BigFix,InTune,and/or equivalenttechnologies.Toincludeexperience designing and upgrading of several technologies used to create, manage, update monitor and report on Windows configurations, solid experience with Windows operating systems, and hands-on experience with desktop imaging, software deployment and inventory management.

Minimum** **Experience

+ Four(4)yearsofexperiencewiththelatest versionsofMicrosoft,BigFix,andInTune and/or equivalent technologies.

+ Experiencewithdesigningandupgradingofseveraltechnologiesusedtocreate, manage,update monitor and report on Windows configurations.

+ SolidexperiencewithWindowsoperating systems.

+ Hands-onexperiencewithdesktopimaging, softwaredeploymentandinventorymanagement.

Summary

The System Configuration Management Administrator is responsible for delivering configuration management and operations management technologies support in a 24x7x365 enterprise environment.

This position involves evaluation, design, and upgrading of various technologies used to create, manage, update, monitor, and report on configurations applied to Windows desktop computers, servers and end-user devices.

The System Configuration Management Administrator diagnoses and corrects performance problems.

Essential Functions

Principal Job Duties

+ Packages, tests, updates and deploys the latest versions of applications, using Metro's enterprise configuration management and operations management technologies.

+ Implements desktop and endpoint image management and deployment, using Metro's enterprise configuration management and operations management technologies.

+ Develops scripts, using industry standard scripting environments for desktop and server configuration and operations management.

+ Responsible for ensuring that Metro's base image is kept up to date with all necessary patches and cybersecurity standards.

+ Maintains hardware and software inventory and ensures licensing compliance.

+ Ensures the delivery and deployment of security patches and/or system updates to data center environments

+ Ensures industry best practices are deployed and optimized for configuration management tools.

+ Plans for and recommends upgrades, using Metro's enterprise configuration management, operations management, and deployment technologies.

+ Works with all Service Delivery and Operations support staff.

+ Analyzes, isolates, and resolves customer issues.

+ Performs proactive monitoring, configuration management, and fault resolution.

+ Assists customers on desktop configuration issues.

+ Uses ticketing system to manage work, detailing each case with notes of steps taken.

+ Develops protocols procedures for managing systems configuration using Metro¿s enterprise configuration management operation management and deployment technologies.

+ Supports hardware installation and configuration.

+ Configures and manages network resources access for all end-point devices.

+ Provides recommendations for technology infusion and enterprise configuration management and operations management technology upgrades.

+ Assist customers with enterprise system related needs.

+ Participates in daily operations and acts as a backup for peer technical staff.
