Job Description
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for defining and supporting the technical aspects of operations at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC). NFPC is a low volume, large size, sand-cast foundry that primarily pours non-ferrous alloys from induction furnaces. NFPC completes all machining operations in house and ships completed products to our internal Navy customers.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Creates, revises/modifies Siemens NX programs for CNC machining of propulsor components.
+ Provide Technical guidance for production operations (process flow, conveying drawing requirements into production process) by performing both independent assessments as well as team-oriented projects. This can include development of engineering reports, plans, drawings, specifications and procedures for the manufacture/repair of ship's propellers.
+ Serve as Project engineer and as such be responsible for working with other engineering disciplines for all engineering aspects of an assigned project.
+ Acts as troubleshooter in identification and resolution of problems encountered during production or pre-production activities.
+ Shall comply with all NFPC procedures for safety, fall protection and hazardous materials.
+ Shall assist in developing and implementing engineering process controls/techniques for continuous improvement of machining and assembly operations.
+ Shall perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications Required for the Position
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Area of expertise should reside in Manufacturing, Mechanical or equivalent.
