Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, IA has a full-time position (40 hours per week) in our Laboratory Department for a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technician.

Responsibilities:

+ Provides phlebotomy on adults, children, and infants by venipuncture or capillary methods and direct arterial punctures.

+ Performs routine and special laboratory testing, recording, and test results reporting within established turnaround time.

+ Interpret analytical findings/results to assess compliance with hospital and industry standards.

+ Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, and testing following established procedures.

+ Performs instrument maintenance, calibrations, and function checks.

+ Assists in evaluating new tests and/or new procedures; perform quality control, proficiency testing and remedial action for unacceptable results.

+ Primarily evening and night shifts. 1 in 5 weekend rotation with rotating holidays.

Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.

+ 1 year of experience required. Previous experience in a hospital laboratory setting is preferred.

+ Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist from the ASCP or AMT required within 12 months of hire.

+ BLS a plus; certification is required as an employee.

+ Mandatory Reporter training certificate a plus; certification is required as an employee.
