    Position Highlights

    Spencer Hospital is a rural** **hospital located** **in northwest Iowa employing over 500+ employees. Positions at Spencer Hospital are not affiliated with Avera; however, we collaborate to provide services to the communities we serve. Employment offers, if accepted, are exclusively with Spencer Hospital.

    This position qualifies for hiring incentives. The amount of incentives offered may be discussed during the interview process.

     

    Our laboratory professionals perform a variety of testing services from basic wellness and pre-employment screenings to complex orders from physicians specializing in oncology, pathology and other medical disciplines.

     

    Spencer Hospital’s laboratory is certified under CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act) and also participates in the American Association of Blood Bank’s quality certification program.

    Responsibilities:

    + Performs a variety of laboratory tests, some routine and some complex, of body fluids and other substances to provide data in the diagnosis or treatment of diseases

    + Requires use of professional judgment

    + Must have excellent communication skills, caring attitude and be a team player

    Requirements:

    + A Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or a related science, including 12 months training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing

    + Possess an Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution and have at least two years training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing

    + Certified as a Medical Technologist by a nationally recognized certifying agency showing competence as a medical laboratory technologist

    + Current ASCP certification or equivalent preferred

    Schedule:

    + **Fri-Sat-Sun Weekend Package - NIGHTS - 5:45p-6a**

    + **Weekend Package Incentive Pay Included!** Choose with or without benefits: With benefits: Pay is 10% higher than base pay or without benefits: Pay is 33% higher than base pay

    + **Additional weekend incentive of 8 hours paid at base wage on bi-weekly paycheck**

    + 42 out of 52 weekends or 126 shifts per year

    + 10 weekends or 30 shifts off per year but may work additional during the week and weekends if there is a need

    + No call - Lab is staffed 24/7

    + The schedule may fluctuate based upon needs of the department
