Group Product Leader - Mobile App Platform
- Ford Motor Company (Dearborn, MI)
-
Launched in 2023, Integrated Services creates and markets new customer experiences by integrating hardware, software and services across Ford Blue, Model e and Ford Pro. These products and services allow Ford's retail and commercial customers to customize their vehicles like never before with OTA (over-the-air)-driven experiences that grow better over time. Ford is developing leadership at the forefront of connected, digital platforms that will revolutionize every aspect of how vehicles function, the way people interact with them, and the value those vehicles provide.
In this position...
Our Retail Offboard Experiences (ROX) organization is growing the Ford App as a trusted digital companion, designed around our customers and their Ford — always ready, always connected, from pocket to pavement. We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager of Product Management to lead and oversee two critical areas: Platform Foundations and Platform Experiences.
This leader will be charged with defining and driving the evolution of our mobile platform while simultaneously underpinning seamless and delightful customer experiences across new digital touchpoints. You will be instrumental in ensuring that our digital companion "just works" and delivers consistent value, from the underlying technology to the customer's interaction with their vehicle, phone, smartwatch, and beyond.
Success will be met by leading a product area that clearly articulates product vision, strategy, and impact based on a strong assessment of desirability, viability, and feasibility for both internal and external customers.
What you'll do...
+ Define and Execute Platform Product Strategy: Iterate and champion the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Platform Foundations and Platform Experiences pillars, ensuring strong alignment with the overall Retail Offboard mission and Integrated Services priorities.
+ Drive PaaS Evolution: Lead the development of a robust, scalable, and efficient mobile platform that serves as a product & feature enabler across several customer surfaces. Oversee investments in internal tooling, data quality, data tagging, and foundational mobile platform components (e.g., standardized telemetry, A/B testing infrastructure).
+ Pioneer Seamless Experience Enablers: Lead the product strategy for Platform Experiences, focusing on reusable enablers for native app experiences (e.g., Live Activities, iOS widgets), Voice Intelligence (e.g., Siri for Ford vehicle commands), and Wearables (e.g., iOS smartwatch).
+ Champion Quality & Performance: Instill a culture of unwavering quality and reliability, ensuring all platform components and experiences "just work" through rigorous QA, test automation, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
+ Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Mobile Engineering, Digital Design, and other retail mobile pillar leads (Core, Extensions, E-commerce) to understand their needs, drive adoption of platform services, and ensure seamless integration of platform-enabled experiences.
+ Lead & Develop Talent: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Product Managers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and cognitive diversity.
+ Drive Data-Informed Decisions: Utilize data and analytics to inform product decisions, define success metrics, and measure the impact and value (including unit economics) of platform investments and experience enablers.
+ Communicate Strategic Impact: Effectively communicate product strategy, progress, and impact to executive leadership, internal partners, and your team.
You'll have...
+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design, Computer Science, or related field of study.
+ 3+ years of Product Management experience, having demonstratably shipped successful digital products in the past.
+ 3+ years of people management experience.
+ 6+ years of experience in engineering, design, or product management roles with demonstrated experience in mobile technology or platform products.
+ 6+ years of experience with end-to-end product delivery in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
+ Proven experience owning and driving roadmap strategy and definition for platform components or multi-channel digital experiences.
Even better, you may have...
+ Master's Degree in Design, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
+ Strong technical acumen, capable of engaging in deep discussions with engineering teams about platform architecture, data quality, and scalability.
+ Experience with connected vehicle ecosystems, IoT platforms, or smart home integrations.
+ Proficiency in data analysis and using metrics to drive product decisions, including an understanding of unit economics and ROI for platform investments.
+ Experience with conducting product discovery, user validation, and A/B testing for platform components or new digital experiences.
+ Familiarity with agile frameworks and managing a backlog in a complex global organization.
+ Strong product intuition with a passion for creating innovative, experience-driven products that deliver effortless customer value.
+ Conviction to always do what's best for customers, with a humility to listen and learn.
+ Flexibility to adapt to change and influence in a dynamic, highly matrixed organizational environment.
