+ GENERAL SUMMARY
+ The Ultrasound/PVL Technologist Supervisor is instrumental in incorporating process changes for the provision of high quality imaging services. Coordinates staff schedules and provides oversight and coordination for daily work-flow for the ultrasound and the peripheral vascular laboratory (PVL) imaging services. Responsible for integration, orientation and training organizational staff, department personnel affiliated students and new employees related to job roles and proper procedures. Ability to operationalize, solve problems, make decisions and develop systems and processes for successful integration and implementation. Reports to designated department Manager/Director.
+ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Participates in the evaluation and supervision of staff, development and implementation of business operations and workflows to ensure organizational and operational efficiencies of the Ultrasound/PVL department, and promotion of quality, timely and safe patient care and services.
+ Collaborates with Sedation and Anesthesia departments to facilitate and ensure timely placement of add-on/urgent examinations.
+ Works collaboratively with the department manager to promote the effective delivery of best practice and patient focused care.
+ Works with leadership, radiologists, and staff to provide oversight, education, evaluation and training to maintain image quality.
+ Assures customer satisfaction (interdepartmental, community and patient/family).
+ Ensures all regulatory, accreditation, & education requirements and standards are met and maintained.
+ Provides a friendly work environment for all staff and communicates effectively with all personnel.
+ Develops and maintains quality assurance processes.
+ Evaluates ultrasound/PVL images for technical quality under the general supervision and guidance of a Radiologist.
+ Promotes education and growth opportunities for staff.
+ Seeks guidance from management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation from financial/operational policies and standards of practice.
+ Leads, manages, coaches, and trains a team or department, provides guidance, support, and mentors to ensure optimal performance and productivity.
+ Oversees the recruitment, hiring, team/department orientation, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions including up to termination processes for a team or department.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
+ Registered/Certified as an Ultrasound Sonographer and Vascular Technologist (RVT) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or other credentialing program preferred. Will consider a candidate who is currently registered/ certified as either an Ultrasound Sonographer or a Vascular Technologist (RVT), with obtainment of registry/certification as an Ultrasound Sonographer and Vascular Technologist within 3 years of hire date. If candidate does not possess both certifications at time of hire, must function under the supervision and guidance of a Radiologist until both certifications are obtained.
+ MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
+ At least two to three years of progressively more responsible work related experience as a Sonographer or RVT required.
+ Bachelor’s degree and Pediatric experience preferred.
+ Knowledge of Ultrasound and Peripheral Vascular techniques/principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of sonographic equipment required.
+ Leadership and interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patients/families, nursing personnel, physicians and coworkers.
+ Knowledge of physics and hemodynamics in the development and acquisition of new diagnostic technology.
+ Ability to interpret and discriminate between normal and abnormal findings, diagnostic data, and report findings to provider.
+ Analytical skills necessary to detect pathologies based on the knowledge of physiological cause/effect of diseases and clinical principles.
+ Knowledge of computerized data retrieval systems and organization of laboratory reports, results, and quality assurance programs.
+ Ability to analyze and problem solve independently.
+ Ability to travel to offsite locations required.
+ CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
+ WORKING CONDITIONS
+ Expected to perform Laboratory, Radiological, Diagnostic or Imaging procedures in a healthcare environment with moderate exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, odors or extremes in temperature. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, hazardous materials, radiation, radio nucleotides, medicinal preparations, body fluids and other conditions common to the healthcare environment. Following proper safety and health procedures reduces potential for personal harm or injury. Moderate adverse working conditions due to the need to perform diagnostic testing and patient care procedures.
