Description
Risk Operations & Resilience (ROR), within Global Realty, is seeking a Sr. Risk Manager to evaluate, analyze, and implement risk mitigation programs for Amazon's global real estate portfolio. You will focus on natural hazards (wildfire, flooding, earthquake, storms) and risks surfaced through disaster prevention/recovery. This role will partner closely with internal teams across Real Estate, Safety, Engineering, Building Design, and Construction, as well as external risk engineering providers to identify, analyze, and implement risk mitigation and process improvement opportunities to the business.
The role requires a self-starting leader who uses data-driven decision making to influence senior stakeholders effectively. You will dive into risk workflows to create efficiencies and scale process improvements, while championing closed-loop learning and continuous improvement through measurable quality and effectiveness mechanisms. This role encompasses four key responsibilities: (1) managing recurring facility audits, (2) integrating risk improvement standards into site due diligence and construction projects, (3) implementing risk management process improvements, and (4) supporting international expansion of risk programs.
Domestic and international travel may be required (10-15%) to audit program effectiveness, vendor performance, and support international expansion activities.
Key job responsibilities
• Develop and manage risk management strategies, processes, and governance frameworks
• Support development and management of financial impact thresholds and decision-making frameworks to determine when to retain risks versus invest capital in risk reduction measures
• Oversee insurance risk engineers and consultants who conduct facility audits, plan reviews, and construction assessments, serving as liaison between service providers and company locations.
• Create dashboards and regular communications to stakeholders sharing risk insights, securing commitment, and monitoring progress of loss control improvements
• Develop business cases for incorporating property loss prevention features into facility designs, including cost estimates for project budget integration

Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of compliance, audit or risk management experience
- 5+ years of program or project Management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
- Master's degree or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
