Position Summary: The Foundation Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery to support foundation construction for utility power projects, including transmission towers, poles, and substations. This role ensures safe and efficient operation of equipment while adhering to project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Essential Functions:
+ Equipment Operation:
+ Operate excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy equipment for excavation and foundation preparation.
+ Perform grading, trenching, and soil compaction to meet engineering requirements.
+ Safety Compliance:
+ Follow all OSHA and company safety protocols, including equipment inspections and safe operating procedures.
+ Participate in daily safety meetings and report hazards immediately.
+ Maintenance & Inspection:
+ Conduct pre- and post-operation inspections of equipment and report any mechanical issues.
+ Perform basic maintenance such as fueling, lubrication, and cleaning.
+ Work Coordination:
+ Collaborate with Foreman and crew to ensure efficient workflow and proper sequencing of tasks.
+ Assist with material handling and site preparation as needed.
+ Documentation:
+ Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage, hours, and maintenance activities.
Minimum Requirements:
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or utility projects.
+ Valid driver’s license and applicable equipment operator certifications.
+ Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) – Class A
+ Knowledge of soil conditions, grading techniques, and foundation requirements.
+ Ability to read and follow site plans and instructions.
+ Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
+ Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
+ Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
+ Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
+ Willing to work overtime when requested.
+ Willing to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime as required for the position.

The team-member is frequently required to perform rigorous physical labor; sit; climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.); or balance; and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl. Team-members frequently lift or move up to or in-excess of 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
