    The successful candidate will join the Maintenance Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. The Electrician will work with the Small Construction Services group by testing the availability of utilities, preventive maintenance and overall support to the electrical systems team and electrical distribution system.

     

    All work will be performed with a high standard of quality and professionalism. All safety policies and procedures must be followed.

    Responsibilities:

    • Performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy

    • Installation or repair of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems or other transmission equipment

    • Working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment

    • New construction work running conduit and installing electrical services

    • Working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment

    • Use a variety of electrician’s hand tools, measuring and testing

    • Work will include additional duties as assigned

     

    Essential Functions

    Work Environment:

    Test Environment (85%) - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals, and industrial facilities. Travel between various facilities and during test operations is required. May bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operations. (15%)

    Physical Requirements:

    Visual and physical (hands on) contact of test related systems, hardware, and articles.

     

    Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift-up to 35 lbs. (100%).

     

    Ability to distinguish basic colors (10%).

     

    Corrected vision and hearing at all times (100%)

    Must be able to use the following:

    • Platform or A-frame ladders up to 12 Ft (30%)

    • Extension ladders up to 24 Ft (10%)

    • Personal or one-man aerial lifts up to 30 Ft. (10%)

    • Articulating or boom aerial lifts up to 35 Ft. (10%)

    Equipment and Machines:

    Will use hand tools, power tools, mechanical, and electrical control devices (40%)

     

    Control room test operation display/keyboards, mechanical and electrical control devices (20%)

     

    Personal computers and related equipment (10%)

     

    Safety and personal protective equipment (50%)

    Attendance:

    Regular attendance is mandatory (100%)

     

    Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (<20%)

    Other Essential Functions

    • **U.S. Citizenship required.**

    • **Valid Real ID compliant identification - www.dhs.gov/real-id**

    • **Must be able to pass and maintain a NASA background check.**

    • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.

    • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

    • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others.

    • The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client organization.

    • Employees will exercise diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed. Your SPA is a Company provided tool to be used for the prevention of incidents, accidents, and injuries; as such, it is the most important tool that you are required to use.
