Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a Transportation Design Project Manager to lead and assist in the development of transportation design projects and plans in the Raleigh, NC area.
Responsibilities:
+ Serve as Project Manager for transportation design projects, overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and quality
+ Lead and contribute to the planning, design, and production of roadway and transportation projects, including municipal and state DOT work
+ Act as a primary point of contact with NCDOT, municipalities, subconsultants, and internal teams
+ Provide technical oversight and quality control for plans, specifications, and cost estimates
+ Apply strong engineering judgment in resolving design challenges and coordinating across disciplines (roadway, drainage, traffic, utilities, and survey)
+ Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and teamwork
+ Support business development efforts, including proposal development and client engagement as needed
+ Ensure compliance with applicable DOT standards, manuals, and project delivery processes
Qualifications:
+ BSCE or BSCET degree with a minimum of 5 years of progressive design experience in all aspects of transportation design; or equivalent level of experience
+ PE license is required
+ Knowledge of and experience with Microstation , Geopack and Corridor Modeling and Open Roads are required
+ NCDOT and VDOT design experience is preferred
+ Survey experience and data management is beneficial
+ Strong engineering analysis and judgment
+ Experience in managing and organizing multiple tasks and related disciplines
+ Proactive and self-motivated attitude
+ Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
