    Summary Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Information and Technology, Field Support Directorate, located in Riverside, CA. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above. Responsibilities Joining Customs and Border Protection, Office Information and Technology will allow you to use your expertise in ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of agency information systems. This position starts at a salary of $122,857.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $159,716.00 (GS-13, Step 10). Typical duties will include: Planning, implementing, and managing problem IT management systems designed to recognize, report, and resolve problems to include evaluating existing systems such as ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal, Server, Data Store, Image Server) and Socet GXP / Socet Set (photogrammetry & stereo exploitation), identifying areas for improvement, and developing and implementing new solutions. Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation of all security procedures, configurations, and changes made to IT systems, including configuration of GEOINT-specific plugins (e.g., GXP Xplorer, ArcGIS GeoEvent Server) and STANAG 4559 library compliance validation Conducting systems maintenance both physical and electronic, including cleaning components, performing integrity checks, executing reboots, creating data dumps, running system tests to maintain overall performance, and managing PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases with >10TB of vector/raster tiles. Working with stakeholders to resolve computer security incidents and vulnerability compliance, conduct investigations including root cause analysis for FMV stuttering due to KLV packet loss or JPIP timeouts and live FMV feed troubleshooting during ISR missions (UAS downlink), implementing remediation measures such as FMV sync with MISB metadata in VLC, MISB-compliant players, or VITec, and ensuring systems compliance with policies and standards Developing forward-looking simulations of resource consumption to predict when upgrades will be needed, evaluating IT capacity requirements for systems supporting MAAS (Motion Imagery PED) or GETS (GEOINT Enterprise TPS), conducting cost benefit and total cost ownership analyses for hardware and software lifecycle management, and recommending replacements, upgrades, or architectural changes based on these analyses. Qualifications Basic Requirement: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Along with the four competencies listed above you must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience described below to qualify based on experience. Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Evaluating, testing, maintaining, repair and improve IT systems to ensure effectiveness and meet all related security requirements Implementing and managing systems to recognize, report, track and resolve customer's complex IT problems Installing, maintaining, diagnosing, and troubleshooting IT system and service software and hardware Developing customer support policies to ensure compatibility with organizational standards and consulting with IT experts to develop and manage the implementation of integrated action plans NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible.
