Position Summary:
The Leave Specialist plays a critical role in supporting Morgan Properties’ commitment to the well-being and engagement of our employees by administering all leave of absence programs with accuracy, empathy, and compliance. This role ensures that each employee receives a positive and supportive experience during their leave journey—whether related to FMLA, ADA, state-specific programs, or company-sponsored initiatives.
Working as part of the HR Shared Services team, the Leave Specialist serves as a trusted advisor and point of contact for employees, managers, and partners across HR, Benefits, Payroll, and Employee Relations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, empathetic, and solution-driven, ensuring every leave case is handled efficiently, compliantly, and with care. Through strong collaboration and data-driven insights, this role contributes to building a consistent, transparent, and employee-centered leave management process that aligns with organizational values and compliance standards.
The core mission of this position is to enhance the employee experience while minimizing organizational risk and ensuring all leave-related programs are managed with integrity and professionalism.
Essential Duties:
Leave Administration & Case Management
+ Manage and track all employee leave cases from intake through return-to-work using the AbsenceSoft Case Management system.
+ Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local leave laws, proactively monitoring changes and updating processes as needed.
+ Serve as the primary contact for employees and managers regarding leave eligibility, timelines, and responsibilities, maintaining confidentiality and empathy throughout.
+ Serve as the subject matter expert on accommodations and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), facilitating the interactive process, coordinating documentation, and partnering with employees, managers, and HR to ensure timely and compliant resolutions.
Collaboration & Communication
+ Coordinate with third-party administrators and carriers (e.g., Workers’ Compensation) to ensure timely claim processing and communication.
+ Partner closely with HR Business Partners, Benefits, Payroll, and managers to ensure consistent, compliant, and equitable application of leave policies.
+ Provide training and guidance to managers and employees on leave policies, documentation requirements, and return-to-work expectations.
Compliance & Documentation
+ Draft and maintain all leave-related documentation, templates, and communications to ensure clarity and compliance.
+ Escalate complex cases to the Employee Relations Director, Benefits Director, or Legal as appropriate.
+ Support accommodation requests and the interactive process for return-to-work cases, ensuring alignment with ADA and internal policies.
Analysis & Process Improvement
+ Generate and analyze leave data and trends, preparing regular reports to identify opportunities for process improvement.
+ Recommend and implement enhancements to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and improve the employee experience.

Decision-Making Authority
+ Evaluate and determine eligibility for leave and accommodation requests in accordance with federal, state, and company policies, ensuring consistent and compliant decisions.
+ Approve or deny leave requests based on documentation, legal requirements, and organizational guidelines, escalating complex cases as appropriate.
+ Recommend accommodations and return-to-work solutions, collaborating with HR, managers, and Legal to finalize reasonable adjustments and ensure operational continuity.
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
+ 2–4 years of experience in leave administration, benefits administration, or HR compliance.
+ Strong understanding of FMLA, ADA, state-specific leave laws, and related employment regulations.
+ Experience using AbsenceSoft or similar absence management systems.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy, professionalism, and empathy in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience collaborating with third-party administrators and insurance carriers.
+ Familiarity with accommodation and return-to-work processes.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
+ Valid driver’s license
+ Certified Leave Management Specialist (CLMS) (preferred)
+ FMLA/ADA Compliance Certificate (preferred)
+ SHRM/HRCI Certification (preferred)

Salary range: $65,000-$80,000/yr
If you are hired at Morgan Properties, your overall compensation package will also be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
