The University of Rochester Department of Urology invites applications for a Biomedical Engineer at the Assistant (Non-tenure Track) rank to join our nationally recognized SURGE Lab. The SURGE Lab provides a state-of-the-art platform for hands-on surgical education, biomedical engineering innovation, and advanced 3D cell culture research.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing simulation models and 3D culture technologies that enhance procedural training and translational research. This faculty member will contribute to both the educational and investigative missions of the Department by creating robust training tools, advancing 3D culture methodologies, and mentoring learners across multiple levels.
Position Overview
• Lead the development, fabrication, and validation of simulation models that support clinical education across urology and other surgical disciplines.
• Advance the SURGE Lab’s research portfolio in 3D culture technology, including the design and engineering of novel cell culture systems.
• Serve as an educator and mentor for residents, fellows, medical students, faculty, and research trainees engaged in simulation-based learning and engineering research.
• Collaborate closely with clinical educators, researchers, and institutional partners to establish cutting-edge training curricula.
Qualifications
Candidate must have M.S or M.Eng in biomedical enigeering or equivalent field.
