    Financial Aid Specialist (Assistant TAP Certifying Officer)

    POSITION DETAILS

    The Assistant to the TAP Certifying Officer at Baruch College supports review, processing, and maintenance of state financial aid certifications and student eligibility records. This role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and confidentiality. As part of CUNY and Baruch’s commitment, the assistant ensures timely and accurate management of TAP certifications. Reporting to the Enrollment Bursars Director, the Assistant TAP Certifying Officer will be responsible for reviewing and certifying TAP awards under HESC and CUNY guidelines.

    In addition to the CUNY Title Overview duties include:

    + Maintain and reconcile TAP reports, rosters, and certification records.

    + Communicate with Baruch students regarding TAP requirements and award status.

    + Monitor student enrollment, satisfactory academic progress, and documentation compliance.

    + Support compliance efforts, internal audits, and state reporting.

    + Collaborate with Financial Aid, and Registrar to reconcile student data.

    + Provide administrative support, including document management, filing, and correspondence.

    + Prepares documentation, instructions, and materials in various media to support TAP

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Experience with PeopleSoft (CUNYFirst)

    + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite i.e., Excel, Word etc.

    + Strong familiarity with TAP, HESC, and State Aid

    CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

    Administers and supervises financial aid programs and operations.

     

    - Reviews contracts, disbursements, tuition and fees; validates student eligibility for various programs

     

    - Administers, monitors and troubleshoots CUNY financial aid systems as well as Federal and NY State systems in order to ensure integrity of student databases and timely and accurate delivery of funds

     

    - Assists CUNY staff, applicants, and students/families with advice on financial aid issues and eligibility

     

    - May review and reconcile student payroll processing

     

    - Represents the Financial Aid function at Admissions events; works with academic departments as well as Bursar, Registrar, Admissions and Computing offices to assure staff understand and implement financial aid processes correctly

     

    - Assists in the development and evaluation of Admissions processes

     

    - Prepares documentation, instructions, and materials in various media to support financial aid activities

     

    - Performs related duties as assigned.

    $61,831- $76,937; Salary commensurate with education and experience.
