    Duties Description Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner for Agency Programs and Safety, the selected candidate will be an integral part of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation’s (OPRHP) Health and Safety Team as the lead administrator of the Park Ranger Program. Duties include but will not be limited to:- Overseeing hiring process in collaboration with the Human Resources Bureau for a statewide program; Coordinating with facility managers, frontline supervisors, and human resources in developing and posting vacancy announcements, evaluating respondents’ resumes and qualifications, and coordinating the selection process.- Ensuring the preparation and review of probationary service reports, temporary service reports, and a variety of other documents, advising supervisors/managers on appropriate actions to be considered and taken in alignment with HR policies.- Working with Regional Business Office Administrators (RBOAs) statewide to assist with daily needs and questions as well as long-term planning.- Analyzing recurring requisitions for materials, equipment, and supplies and making recommendations for further purchases; Working with the Procurement Team to resolve issues with purchase orders; Overseeing all uniform inventory and ordering.- Working with the Bureau of Financial Administration to oversee financial needs by analyzing budget and spending patterns through use of historical data and communication with regional management; Monitoring budgets against Lapsing Funds to maximize use of funding.- Supervising and training lower-level personnel by providing daily oversight, conducting regular staff evaluations, assigning, and overseeing work performed, and reviewing task assignments on a quarterly basis; Acting as the lead resource for all program staff statewide; Overseeing and providing information to employees about benefits provided by negotiated agreements.- Assisting staff and agency patrons in a professional manner through all forms of communication and conduct; Utilizing skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook to assist with daily work.- Performing other duties as needed and directed by the Executive Staff.

To be eligible for NCP, candidates must be in the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation promotion field and have at least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as an Administrative Specialist 1. If 3 or fewer qualified NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation eligible promotional employees respond to this posting, Civil Service may approve the permanent appointment of one of the qualified employees without further examination.In order to be considered for appointment via non-competitive promotion, candidates serving in the established promotion field must not have failed or failed to take the last holding of the Administrative Specialist 2 exam, if said exam was held within the last four years.Note: Non-competitive refers to not competing in an examination; the appointment will be competitive.52.6 Transfer Qualifications:At least one year of permanent or contingent-permanent qualifying service as a Grade 21 or higher.
