Description
Tesla Energy’s Systems Engineering team is looking for an Electrical Engineer to own commissioning, maintenance, debug, and troubleshooting of automated test setups. You’ll be the technical lead responsible for maintaining setup uptime—ensuring networking, controls, power distribution, instrumentation, and automation hardware operate reliably across multiple sites. You’ll own the full setup lifecycle – from electrical bring-up and network configuration to root-cause debugging and the development of Python tools to drive reliability, system visibility, and uptime. What You’ll Do • Commission & Bring-Up: Lead electrical bring-up, controls integration, network configuration, and sensor validation for new and existing test setups. • Troubleshoot & Root-Cause: Diagnose electrical, firmware, and network failures across PLCs, DAQ systems, DC power supplies, chillers/thermal controllers, and automation hardware. • Networking: Configure and maintain managed switches, VLANs/subnets, static IP maps, and controller-to-server communication; resolve connectivity issues across the test environment. • Python: Build and maintain Python scripts for automated diagnostics, health monitoring, log parsing, and rapid debugging. • Configuration Control: Maintain consistent firmware versions, IP tables, wiring standards, and hardware configurations across multiple setups. • Sustaining Engineering: Perform preventative audits, execute hardware upgrades, and retrofit engineering changes into deployed systems. • Cross-Functional Debug: Collaborate with Test Automation, Controls, Systems Engineering, and Mechanical teams to resolve integration blockers. • Documentation: Maintain detailed system configurations, track known issues, and document setup-specific quirks to prevent repeated failures.
