Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Economics at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte invites applications for a Tenure-Track advanced Assistant or Associate Professor (with tenure) in energy economics, beginning August 10, 2026. We strongly prefer candidates at the Associate Professor level with tenure. The successful candidate will conduct research, teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and contribute to departmental service and governance. Beyond our undergraduate economics program, the department offers an M.S. in Economics and plays a central role in the Ph.D. in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance, the Ph.D. in Public Policy, and the M.S. in Mathematical Finance.
Minimum Experience / Education:
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
We seek scholars whose research addresses critical questions in energy economics and who can strengthen our research profile through collaboration with UNC Charlotte’s Energy Production & Infrastructure Center ( EPIC ). The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about interdisciplinary approaches and advancing EPIC’s mission of research and innovation in energy systems and infrastructure. Candidates with demonstrated interest in or experience with industry partnerships are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a completed doctorate in Economics or a related field by the start of the appointment and must meet academic qualifications as described in the Belk College Policy on Qualified Faculty Status. Those applying for an assistant position should provide evidence of the potential for high-quality research and teaching.
