    Job Title: Controls Engineer

    Job Description

    The Controls Engineer is responsible for providing electrical engineering expertise to ensure the successful execution of customer projects. This role involves supervising electrical engineers, draftsmen, subcontractors, and other engineering personnel to deliver comprehensive turnkey conveyor control systems that align with customer specifications. The engineer collaborates closely with project peers and subordinates, including the Project Manager, Mechanical Project Engineer, Field Superintendent, and Subcontractors.

    Responsibilities

    + Collect and integrate customer design requirements, needs, and specifications for functionality.

    + Develop detailed designs of control systems to meet customer requirements.

    + Create electrical drawings, plans, code, and operational configuration data.

    + Supervise and review subcontractor work related to control system design and field wiring installation.

    + Assist in developing detailed project schedules for the electrical systems portion of the project.

    + Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering to ensure compatibility between electrical and mechanical systems.

    + Travel to job sites for coordination meetings, planning, installation support, debugging, start-up, and standby, which may require working off-shifts, weekends, and holidays.

    + Ensure that all drawings, software, and project files are maintained and archived upon project completion.

    + Adhere to all requirements and documentation standards.

    + Support continuous improvement in company operations and processes related to engineering, shop, and field work.

    + Travel may constitute up to 50% of work time and may last for extended periods.

    Essential Skills

    + PLC programming expertise, particularly with Rockwell and Siemens systems.

    + Proficiency in Rockwell Studio 5000 for PLC programming.

    + Experience with Siemens TIA Portal/Win CC for HMI development.

    + Ability to read and interpret electrical drawing packages.

    + Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical for design purposes.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Bachelor's degree or extensive equivalent experience.

    + Certifications in GM Standards.

    + 3-5 years of experience in a related field, such as integrator or automotive experience.

    + Experience with conveyor systems controls.

    + Passport for North American travel.

    + Familiarity with G16 STANDARD v6.0.

    + Knowledge of Lockout, Energy, Control, MPS, and SCS for GM contractors.

    + Experience with AutoCAD Electrical Design.

    Work Environment

    The work environment includes both office settings and plant floors, with a variety of plant locations across North America. The position involves a 40-week on-site project simulation support, providing exposure to diverse operational conditions.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Permanent position based out of Kansas City, MO.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
