    Position Description

    TheDepartment of Agricultural Sciences (https://ag.txst.edu/) at Texas State University seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Instruction with a broad teaching portfolio across sub-disciplines within agricultural sciences. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels and participate in departmental service.

     

    This “generalist” role means that the faculty member may teach courses in multiple areas such as agribusiness, ag. mech/ag education, animal science, and plant /soil science style classes. The ideal person is flexible, enjoys teaching a range of topics, and is willing to contribute to a growing and evolving department.

    Required Qualifications

    + PhD in Agricultural Sciences or a closely related discipline.

    + Demonstrated ability or potential to teach effectively in at least two of the following areas: a) agribusiness, b) ag. mech/ag education, c) animal science, and d) plant /soil science.

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    + Demonstrates a strong commitment to student-centered teaching and mentoring, including welcoming teaching practices.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience teaching at the undergraduate level across multiple sub-disciplines.

    + Evidence of curriculum development or program coordination.

    + Ability to supervise or participate in graduate student instruction or mentoring.

    + Familiarity with current trends in agriculture (e.g., sustainability, ag tech, integrated systems).

    + Experience working collaboratively across disciplines or with outreach/extension components.
