    UW Tacoma** **has an exciting opening for** **a** **Director** **for** **Engagement & Operations** **. This is a full-time** **,** **permanent position.

     

    The Director for Engagement & Operations is a key leadership role responsible for driving strategic stakeholder engagement and ensuring operational effectiveness across UW Tacoma Advancement. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement, the Director oversees alumni relations, advancement events, operational activities and budget processes, while supervising a team that delivers high-quality support for UW Tacoma’s Advancement priorities.

     

    This position is a strategic partner and operational leader, cultivating strong relationships with alumni, community partners and campus units; guiding divisional projects and process improvements; and aligning engagement strategies with UW Tacoma’s mission and the goals of University Advancement.

    What You Will Do** **:

    _Strategic Engagement Program Leadership (40%)_

    + Lead the development,implementationand assessment of comprehensive engagement strategies for donors, alumni,familiesand community stakeholdersthatinspire meaningful action.

    + Set strategicobjectivesandestablishannual and long-term plans for engagementprogramming, andevaluate performance and outcomes to continuously strengthen and refine these initiatives.

    + Serve as a primary liaison with internal and external partners including deans, chancellors,donorsand community leaders to advanceUW Tacoma’sAdvancement priorities.

    + Collaborateclosely with Developmentand Marketing & Communicationsteamsto align engagementstrategieswith fundraising, donor pipeline growth, strategiccommunicationsand campaign goals.

    + Overseealumni relationsprogrammingandevents, ensuring strategic design, evaluation and continuous improvement within goals and budgets.

    + Ensure consistent, brand-aligned messaging across all engagement activities.

    _Operations & Administration (40%)_

    + Lead the daily operations of UW Tacoma Advancement, ensuring alignment with university policies and best practices while advancingsharedgoals.

    + Supervise and develop theoperations andengagementstaff, ensuring effective dailyworkflow, providingcoachingand conducting performance evaluations.

    + Partner with UW Tacoma’sAdvancement leadership to develop, implement and evaluate annual and multi-year strategies.

    + Manage strategic projects and initiatives—such as the upcoming campaign—from planning through execution, ensuringtimelydelivery and measurable outcomes.

    + Develop and oversee the division’s operational budget, including program budgets, specialprojectsand event expenses.

    + Design, implement and continually refine systems and processes to enhance efficiency,effectivenessand cross-functional performance.

    _Data, Strategy & Continuous Improvement (20%)_

    + Use and analyze data,surveysand CRM systems to track outcomes, informstrategyand drive continuous improvement.

    + Develop and apply business intelligence tools to support decision-making across advancement functions, including communications, ROI analysisand donor pipeline growth.

    + Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership, highlighting progress,challengesand strategic recommendations.

    Minimum** **Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree AND at least 4 years of experience in advancement, operations or executive administration.

     

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

    What You Bring** **:

    + Experience supervising and developing direct reports.

    + Strong operational,analyticalandfinancial managementskills.

    + Proven ability to manage high-level relationships with donors,volunteersand institutional leadership.

    + Outstanding project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced,matrixedandhighlycomplexenvironment.

    What You Can Expect** **:

    + Hybrid schedule: At least four days in the office (UW Tacoma campus).

    + Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result inadditionalor higher levels of noise and visual distractions.

    + Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.

    + Frequent local travelexpected.

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $105,000.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $110,004.00 annual
