We are currently seeking a Senior Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to make an impact on our Orthopedic Instrumentation(OI) team.

You will need to live within commuting distance to our 1941 Stryker Way, Portage, MI
You will need to be in the office 5 days a week.
As a **Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer** on our OI R&D team, you'll design innovative surgical power tool technologies, collaborate closely with customers, and lead projects from concept to commercialization.
What You Will Do:
_Key Responsibilities:_
+ Design, develop, and evaluate components and systems for medical devices, translating complex user needs into clear system designs and specifications.
+ Conduct advanced prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting to validate and optimize designs.
+ Guide cross-functional teams in technology exploration, implementation, and product development.
+ Drive competitive strategies by leveraging market trends, clinical insights, and innovation opportunities.
+ Ensure compliance with medical device standards, regulatory requirements, and internal R&D processes.
+ Mentor team members, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to documentation and design history files.
+ Partner effectively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Marketing, and Project Management to deliver high-quality results.
+ Lead process improvements, prototype development, and technical initiatives while inspiring collaboration across teams.
What You Need
_Minimum Qualifications:_
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field with directly relevant experience.
+ 6+ years of relevant experience.
+ Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Creo preferred).
_Preferred Qualifications:_
+ Expertise in customer-centered design and DFM principles.
+ Experience with mechanical/electro-mechanical assemblies, GD&T, and CAE tools.
+ Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing methods, and product optimization.
+ Clear communication of technical plans to diverse teams.
