POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for analyzing the creditworthiness of TVA’s counterparties (customers, suppliers, and vendors); and implementing mitigation strategies when applicable, to reduce credit and performance risk to TVA. This position will serve as an experienced credit consultant to senior management in assigned TVA organizations for the interpretation and application of TVA’s corporate credit policy.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
+ Experienced credit professional with a defined area of expertise, performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of counterparty financial statements and other credit-related information.
+ Develops and implements strategies to resolve credit issues and initiates steps to mitigate credit and performance risk.
+ Prepares a detailed and comprehensive written analysis of counterparty creditworthiness for management and supporting business units.
+ Exercises autonomy in the establishment of counterparty credit limits and exposures. Regularly utilizes professional judgment and decision making skills in the identification and calculation of current and potential exposure.
+ Implements systems and procedures to monitor counterparty creditworthiness on an on-going basis.
+ Negotiates contractual credit clauses and financial assurance language in various commodity contracts. Possesses a working knowledge of contract law and bankruptcy.
+ Determines collateral arrangements and negotiates parent guarantees, standby letters of credit and deposit agreements with counterparties. Maintains collateral documents and credit files.
+ Utilizes broad industry knowledge to respond rapidly to changing credit quality or market conditions. Issues reports and updates to management when conditions and exposures warrant.
+ Independently utilizes credit research tools and models to enhance TVA’s analytical process.
+ Supports the compliance of TVA’s credit policy and accounting practices.
+ Responsible for supporting the Financial Services organization on various agency-wide projects and teams.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education— Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field of study; or equivalent education, training & experience. A master’s degree is desirable.
Experience— Three to five years of experience in commercial banking, credit, finance, or risk management with a electric/gas utility, coal industry or commodity trading operation.
Certification/License, etc— None
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities— Requires working knowledge and practice of accounting and financial management. Must have a thorough knowledge of credit, finance, and general business. Prior utility and commodity experience is desired. Experienced problem solver. Proficient in spreadsheets, databases and data analysis and graphics. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position / access requirements and essential job functions.
