Responsibilities
This position is accountable for the daily coordination of production. It requires the assessment of daily operational requirements and the development of daily work assignments for each team member. This position plays a key role in achieving the proper staffing levels for the production lines for the facility to achieve safety and production objectives. The incumbent is responsible for providing a safe and productive work environment and monitoring the development of team members providing coaching and counseling to improve their performance.
Accountabilities:
1. Oversee shift production on the production floor including adherence to all safety protocols, supervision of hourly production staff responsible for daily manufacturing activities and communicating job expectations.
2. Responsible for hourly employee performance activities including coaching, counseling, discipline, timekeeping and policy and procedure management and enforcement.
3. Maintains production through continuous improvement activities, monitoring staffing and resources, developing reporting procedures and systems, and initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
4. Participates in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, training and mentoring processes.
5. Identifies shift production performance gaps in efficiency, suggest improvements and implement corrective actions to fix deficiencies.
6. Ensure a safe work environment through prompt resolution of safety-related issues, monitoring of work practices to ensure safe work behaviors and doing safety related facility tours and audits. Participates in plant safety program as a leader or group participant.
7. Ensure product quality by adherence to product/packaging specifications, SQF protocols and OSHA compliance standards.
8. Validate equipment operation at beginning of shift, communicate problems, and initiate work orders for equipment that cannot be repaired during the shift. Provide feedback to maintenance regarding work orders completed or scheduled.
9. Ensure collaboration of team members across functions on shift and hand off to oncoming leadership to ensure the development of a high-performance work environment.
Qualifications
Education:
• A bachelor’s degree or a combination of college and equivalent work experience in a food manufacturing facility.
Experience:
• Four to five years of progressive experience working with industrial food manufacturing equipment and supervision of multiple employees.
Skills:
• Ability to lead and direct a diverse set of human resources
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Operating knowledge of computers, desktop software, and business systems
• High School equivalency math skills
• Must possess knowledge in the area of safety; including OSHA and other applicable federal and state regulations.
• Knowledgeable of food processing, HACCP, GMPs and sanitation preferred
