The Manager, Public Affairs plays a critical role in advancing Novant Health’s mission to improve the health of communities, one person at a time. This role will help position Novant Health as a trusted, mission-driven, and solutions-oriented health system through strategic public affairs, government relations, and communications initiatives.

Reporting to the VP, Public Affairs, this individual will develop and implement integrated public affairs campaigns, craft compelling policy-driven messaging, and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders—including elected officials, policymakers, media, trade associations, and community partners.

What You will Do:

+ Location: Raleigh–Triangle area, requires monthly onsite availability.

+ Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

+ Develop and execute strategic public affairs, communications, and issue campaigns that amplify Novant Health’s priorities and support our government relations strategy.

+ Design and implement integrated public affairs plans that position Novant Health’s policy messages with key audiences such as elected officials, policymakers, media, trade associations, and consumers.

+ Serve as a strategic advisor and collaborator, aligning messaging and initiatives across departments including communications, marketing, government relations, regulatory affairs, and community engagement.

+ Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and consistent positioning across all public venues.

+ Contribute to the overall public affairs strategy, helping shape Novant Health’s external reputation as a leader in healthcare innovation, equity, and advocacy.

What We Are Looking For

Required:

+ Bachelors Degree.

+ 5+ years’ experience in government affairs, political or issue campaigns, and communications/public relations/public affairs.

+ Strong understanding of the political, legislative, and campaign arenas, including strategies for developing effective messaging and relationships.

+ Understanding of traditional and new media tactics, including social media, and ability to utilize in strategy implementation.

+ Demonstrated leadership and mentorship skills with the ability to create team culture that enables organization’s mission, vision, and values.

+ Exceptional written and oral communications skills with demonstrated ability to make the complex simple for a variety of audiences.

+ Self-managed to use initiative and time management to prioritize work and deliver results.

+ Strong organizational and project management skills, including management of system-wide groups in complex matters.

+ Professional demeanor and presence, including the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred:
