    + This job is a member of the Accounting Team within the Finance Division.

    + ​Responsible for leading the day-to-day functions for the corporate accounting / financial reporting processes of the company. Accounting functions include: frequent flyer accounting, benefits, intangible assets, foreign exchange, intercompany, Hyperion administration, G/L maintenance, financial statement consolidation, stock compensation and administration, SEC and other external reporting, fixed asset accounting, cash accounting, short-term investments accounting, inventory accounting and fixed asset accounting.

     

    What you'll do

Management will modify the job or require other tasks be performed whenever it is deemed appropriate to do so, observing, of course, any legal obligations including any collective bargaining obligations._

     

    + Leads the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual supporting schedules for responsible accounting functions; Reviews journal vouchers, monthly support schedules and general ledger account reconciliations

    + Partner and collaborate with the Company’s treasury, corporate development, financial planning & analysis, finance controller organization, executive compensation, investor relations and legal teams to support transactions.

    + Manage and coordinate activities to support the completion of internal and external audit requirements

    + Participates in external SEC financial reporting process, including 10Qs, 10Ks, and 8Ks, quarterly and annual financial statements, footnotes and Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) disclosures, disclosure checklists, and related support as well as oversee other regulatory and governmental compliance reporting including Department of Transportation reporting

    + Ensure compliance with SEC and GAAP reporting requirements, including monitoring, researching, and implementing recent and proposed accounting pronouncements and documenting and implementing conclusions regarding technical accounting treatment for significant or non-routine transactions

    + Ensures that accounting functions are Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliant

    + Provides guidance on accounting issues to business groups of the company as needed

    + Provides new employees with appropriate training on business processes and system applications for assigned areas of responsibility

    + Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of business processes, procedures and accounting assumptions on an ongoing basis. Recommend and assist in process improvements to improve the control environment and increase the utilization of resources (people, technology, funds)

    + Develops and maintains documentation for business and system processes for assigned responsibilities

    + Represents the department in meetings and through written and verbal communication with internal and external customers

    + Serves as a backup for Director as a resource for accountants to ask questions and to sign off on journal entries and reconciliations

    + Performs a variety of other functions/ad-hoc projects as assigned to aid in the department’s/company’s achievement of goals and business objectives

     

    All you'll need for success

    Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + ​Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/training

    + 5 years of accounting and finance experience, including leadership experience managing teams cross-functional projects and knowledge with financial reporting, financial processes and systems, SOX compliance, and complex accounting matters

    + Experience in large public accounting firm and/or large publicly traded company required

    + CPA certification required

    Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

    + ​Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA, or other related discipline

    Skills, Licenses & Certifications

    + Demonstrates the highest standards of ethics and integrity

    + Leadership abilities including experience managing teams

    + Ability to work in a team environment

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    + Ability to think innovatively with a high degree of motivation and problem solving skills required

    + Knowledge of technical application of GAAP and SOX principles

    + Knowledge of financial reporting processes

    + Self-motivated, detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

    + Flexible/adaptable to constant change and scheduling needs to meet deadlines

    + Knowledge of Microsoft Office software; good working knowledge of mainframe accounting/reporting systems including SAP general ledger and Hyperion Financial Management reporting tool

    + Ability to consistently meet deadlines
