Overview

The RCP I performs respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician. This role emphasizes the assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of patient care, taking into consideration age-specific and population-specific needs. In the absence of a supervisor, the RCP I may be assigned as Lead RCP, assuming responsibility for the section or department during their shift.

Responsibilities

+ Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, airway management, and mechanical ventilation as prescribed.

+ Conduct pulmonary diagnostic procedures, such as pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas collection, and spirometry.

+ Assess patient respiratory status and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.

+ Implement physician orders and ensure timely delivery of respiratory care interventions.

+ Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.

+ Monitor and adjust respiratory equipment, ensuring proper function and patient safety.

+ Provide education and guidance to patients and families regarding respiratory care and treatment plans.

+ Maintain knowledge of current respiratory care practices and participate in continuing education.

+ Serve as Lead RCP in the absence of a supervisor, overseeing department operations and coordinating staff workflow.

+ Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

+ State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required

+ Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

+ 2 years? experience as a RCP preferred.

+ ACLS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintain current

+ NRP certificate preferred

+ PALS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintain current.

+ Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree required. If there is no Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science Degree, a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Saint Michael's Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package that provides employees the flexibility to tailor benefits according to their individual needs. Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options. Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status, i.e. full-time or part-time. The current compensation range for this role is $32.75 per hour to $47.01 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
