    The Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in custom machine design using NX, initially supporting a significant project within the energy sector. This large-scale project requires immediate attention, and the role will involve collaboration with another mechanical engineer to develop and execute designs. Responsibilities include component sizing, material selection, and staying with the project through assembly and customer run-off and debugging.

    Responsibilities

    + Design custom automated equipment in NX.

    + Complete stack up analysis and FEA analysis.

    + Continuously improve processes and deliver quality products and services to internal and external customers.

    + Create detailed designs for custom automated equipment.

    + Develop tooling designs and concepts.

    + Engage in process development and feasibility studies.

    + Interface with controls design.

    + Participate in prototype testing and rework associated with new inventions.

    + Collaborate with other engineers and take a lead role in prototype development.

    + Provide customer service and technical assistance to meet customer requirements.

    + Participate in lineup meetings.

    + Lead, attend, and provide input on concept and design review meetings.

    Essential Skills

    + 8+ years of experience in designing custom automated equipment.

    + Proficiency in NX.

    + Proficiency in FEA analysis and stack up analysis.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + An engineering degree is preferred.

    + Experience in project management is a plus.

    Work Environment

    The work environment features a team of over 80 engineers, including mechanical, controls, and electrical engineers, as well as project managers and applications specialists. The team is known for a laid-back culture with a sense of humor to alleviate stress from tight deadlines. Work is primarily performed in the engineering center, with occasional travel for customer installations, though such travel is rare. The position involves 75% of time spent designing at a desk and 25% debugging. The company emphasizes continuous improvement and offers exposure to cutting-edge automation technology, providing valuable experience for future career opportunities.

    This is a Contract position based out of Bridgman, MI.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $58.00/hr.
