Job Title: Protection and Control DesignerJob Description

Join a dynamic team that connects passion with purpose. As a Protection and Control Designer in the Substation Department, you will play a crucial role in developing electrical construction drawings for substations. Your expertise will be vital in supporting critical engineering initiatives, and you will have the opportunity to mentor lower-level designers.

Responsibilities

+ Create drawings for projects adhering to the latest standards.

+ Utilize part naming and numbering conventions, along with file naming and management protocols.

+ Use Vault and ProjectWise to track all design modifications and new designs.

+ Manage complex projects with minimal supervision.

+ Coordinate with other departments involved in design projects.

+ Mentor and guide less experienced designers.

+ Check and validate project drawings as well as those of peers and subordinates.

+ Work under the supervision of Professional Engineers.

+ Design and modify single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC & DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and MicroStation.

+ Design protection schemes related to breaker controls, line relaying, bus relaying, and both internal and external station communications.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in electrical design, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

+ Experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD for at least four years.

+ Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.

+ Ability to design protection and control schemes.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer-aided design (CAD), or civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent experience and/or education.

Work Environment

Work in a collaborative environment where you will use technologies such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and MicroStation. The role involves coordinating with multiple departments to ensure project success. You will work under the supervision of Professional Engineers, providing an opportunity to grow and develop professionally.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New Albany, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
