Join our Atlanta team and take the lead on designing bridges and transportation structures that connect communities and drive progress. As a Lead Bridge Engineer, you will work on some of Georgia and the Southeast’s most complex and impactful projects — bringing innovation, leadership, and technical excellence to every design.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
* Lead structural planning, analysis, and design for bridges and transportation structures.
* Serve as a technical lead and mentor for project teams, ensuring quality and compliance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
* Prepare drawings, simulations, and design documents using industry-standard software tools.
* Represent Jacobs at client meetings, conferences, presentations, and public hearings.
* Oversee project budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
* Support business development through client engagement, proposal preparation, and internal collaboration.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff.
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge analysis, design, and plan development (new and rehabilitation projects)
* At least five years of experience with Georgia Department of Transportation projects and local client relationships
* Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Georgia or ability to obtain within six months
* Proficiency in MicroStation / OpenRoads Designer (ORD), Microsoft Office, and structural analysis/design software
* Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
* Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across teams
* Provide leadership and direction by mentoring and guiding junior staff
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
* Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
* Georgia Structural Engineer (S.E.) licensure by affidavit or examination
* Proven experience managing and mentoring junior staff
* Strong knowledge of Georgia DOT Bridge Design Manual and Georgia specifications and construction standards
