Job Title: Project Analyst
Job Description
We are seeking a Project Analyst to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapons system. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter who can quickly come up to speed and work collaboratively with staff, peers, leadership, and customers to successfully deliver major programs. This role requires excellent communication skills and attention to detail. The Project Analyst supports both the Program Engineer and the Technical Program Manager for a large program and reports to the Program Engagement Manager. The candidate facilitates program execution by effectively communicating timely information, drafting reports, and providing insights on the health of the project to all stakeholders. The candidate also provides data analysis, both financial and related to project timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Project Analysts need to be able to assess dependencies associated with deliverables or timelines, to either enable early deliveries or minimize delays/risks.
Responsibilities
+ Collect and analyze project data from various sources like timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and performance metrics.
+ Identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement based on data analysis.
+ Generate reports and visualizations to present insights to project managers and stakeholders.
+ Assist in developing detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.
+ Monitor project progress against the plan, identifying potential deviations and risks.
+ Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates on project status.
+ Conduct risk assessments and identify potential project risks.
+ Assist in developing mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
+ Facilitate project meetings and document action items.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deliverables are met.
+ Communicate project status updates to stakeholders effectively.
+ Analyze project management processes and identify areas for optimization.
+ Recommend improvements to project management methodologies and tools.
+ Identify and lead initiatives to develop automation of processes and reporting.
+ Maintain comprehensive project documentation including project plans, status reports, and meeting minutes.
+ Develop and update project knowledge databases.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in business, engineering, or other technical field.
+ 4+ years of experience as a project analyst supporting projects of varying size with minimal supervision.
+ Strong ability to analyze data, interpret trends, and draw meaningful conclusions.
+ Proficiency in using tools like Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Jira, and Microsoft Project.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Understanding of project management methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, and critical path analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ PMP or CAPM certification.
+ Experience using Power BI or Tableau.
+ Knowledge of/experience supporting the U.S. Navy SSP Strategic Weapons System.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work schedule with three days onsite, two mandatory days onsite (Tuesday and Wednesday), and one flexible day. The role follows a 9/80 schedule, providing a balanced work-life environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00/hr.
