    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Lab Technician 2 to join our team in a synthetic biology lab. This role involves using a variety of lab equipment to process both standard and non-standard products, performing PCR protocols, and ensuring accurate product records. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in aseptic and sterile techniques, multitasking efficiently while running multiple processes, and troubleshooting product, process, or equipment issues.

    Responsibilities

    + Use thermal cyclers and liquid handling machines to process products.

    + Perform a variety of PCR protocols and post-PCR cleanup steps.

    + Demonstrate aseptic and sterile techniques to minimize contamination risk.

    + Efficiently multitask while managing multiple processes.

    + Ensure accurate product records are maintained.

    + Use customer software in a Windows-based environment.

    + Quantify and sample products for quality control tests.

    + Troubleshoot product, process, or equipment problems.

    + Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related scientific field, or an Associate's degree in science with 2 years of PCR experience.

    Work Environment

    The position is based in a synthetic biology lab. The role requires working in a Windows-based environment and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and safety within the lab.

     

    Job Type & Location

     

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coralville, IA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $22.35 - $25.23/hr.
