    Overview

     

    This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company , supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures , including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades . Spirit Commercial ’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

    Responsibilities

    Key Accountabilities:

    + Performs a variety of qualitative and quantitative analysis of raw materials, packaging materials, and/or finished products from manufacturing, to ensure compliance to customer and regulatory requirements and specifications in regard to chemical, physical, and mechanical properties.

    + Assist Engineering in establishing testing requirements and providing test data.

    + Apply knowledge of engineering and science to conduct tests on metallic and non-metallic materials (e.g., metals, composites, sealants, adhesives, rubber products, plastics) to validate compliance with conformance specifications and provide consultation on related issues.

    + Applies existing techniques and procedures with recommendations and implementation for improved efficiency, or devises and develops new analytical test methods and techniques.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications:

    + Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance

    + 5-9 years of experience with raw materials testing

    + High School Diploma or GED is required

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Fiber/Void/Resin Content Testing on pre-impregnated materials

    + Sample Prep – operating a CNC Machine, Lathe, table saw, band saw or grinder for metallic raw materials.

    + Operating element analyzers

    + Operating tensile machines

    + Sample prep of composite and metallic materials for testing

    + Composite machining

    + Welding Background

    Union:

    This is a union-represented position.

     

    Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

     

    Summary Pay Range: $52,600 - $80,600
