Job Description
The Iowa Insurance Division is seeking a highly motivated analyst to join our Market Regulation Bureau. This crucial position is dedicated to consumer protection by investigating and enforcing Iowa insurance statutes and regulations against unlawful, incompetent, or dishonest market conduct. If you have experience in insurance claim operations, or other policy and consumer facing operations, and are committed to regulatory compliance, this is your opportunity to play a key role in maintaining integrity across Iowa's insurance markets.
Applicant should have knowledge, experience and strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, excellent communication skills, ability to work in a collaborative environment, with investigative skills to resolve Iowa consumer complaints in one or more of the following areas: “Life, Annuity, Health, and/or Property & Casualty lines of insurance business”.
Key Responsibilities: As a Market Regulation Analyst, you will be primarily responsible for regulatory review of insurance company claim handling and business conduct compliance with the policy and Iowa regulatory code. Analyze insurance industry developments to help keep the Bureau’s initiatives streamlined and effective. Help develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the statutes the Bureau enforces.
• Statutory Compliance: Analyze insurance companies’ and producers’ conduct for adherence to critical statutes, including the Insurance Policy, Insurance Trade Practices Act (Iowa Code Chapter 507B) and the Insurance Producer Law (Iowa Code Chapter 522B).
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with a dedicated team of analysts and investigators to support the successful resolution of Iowa consumer complaints, be a subject matter expert to aid the Bureau’s potential regulatory investigations and when necessary, the prosecution of consumer protection statutes.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) Graduation from an accredited school of law.
2) All of the following (a and b):
a. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree; and
b. A total of three years full-time work experience in at least one of the following areas: i. Multi-line insurance adjusting or underwriting; or ii. Investigating and recognizing violations of state laws or regulations and preparing cases proving such violations for presentation at administrative hearings; or iii. Conducting research, analysis, interpreting, implementing or monitoring insurance regulations and insurance products and providing consultation and customer assistance and technical assistance to stakeholders; or iv. Business management and administration including: budget administration and analysis, regulatory and legal compliance, quality assurance, and customer service administration.
3) A total of seven years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number two), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
4) Current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes 18 months of fulltime work in insurance regulation.
