Job Description
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Family Well-Being and Protection, Child Protective Services is seeking a Social Work Supervisorto join our team!

Iowa Department of Health and Human Services has a current opening for a team member in the Family and Child Well-Being Division. HHS is responsible for working with families who have experienced abuse and neglect. You play a key role in preparing and supporting children and families to be successful. You will also assist families in realizing their full potential by working with them as experts, case planning with team members, and the courts, and connecting families to community resources.
HHS, Family Well-Being and Protection Division, is seeking a Supervisor for our Centralized Service Intake Unit (CSIU). This vital supervisory position requires the skill to multi-task, gather and analyze information in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and efficiency. This position will work Monday-Friday, 2:00PM-10:30PM (2nd Shift). A typical day involves making numerous, rapid, and accurate decisions based on policy and procedure. This is an essential social work position that is the gateway to assist in the protection of the most vulnerable Iowans.
This position is a telework position and is responsible for the supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the CSIU workers (call center) to ensure quality services are uniformly provided to clients; to effectively utilize limited resources; and to ensure ongoing enhancements to staff’s knowledge and skills. This position reviews and determines whether abuse intakes are accepted or rejected based on Child or Dependent Adult Abuse as defined in Iowa Code.
This position provides consultation, guidance, technical assistance, and analysis of performance data relative to child and dependent adult intakes. Initial training will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, until ready to take on assigned duties. Training will consist of a combination of in-person training in Des Moines and virtual training.
This position will be a telework position primarily working from home but will be domiciled (work location) in the nearest full-time HHS office.
Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Demonstrate exceptional customer services skills and the ability to establish relationships; Demonstrate excellent judgment and communication skills; Ability to provide good written documentation in a timely manner; Ability to prioritize and work under pressure; Ability to work independently; Demonstrates integrity and a strong work ethic; and Ability to use independent judgement to make sound decisions.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited four year college and experience equal to four years of full-time work in a social work capacity in a public or private agency;
OR
professional experience in a social work capacity may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year of qualifying experience for each thirty semester hours of education;
OR
a Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited four year college or university and experience equal to three years of full-time experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency;
OR
a Master's degree in social work from an accredited college or university and experience equal to one year of full-time work in a social work capacity in a public or private agency;
OR
any equivalent combination of graduate education in the social or behavioral sciences from an accredited college or university and qualifying experience up to a maximum of thirty semester hours for one year of the required experience;
OR
employees withcurrentcontinuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to 24 months of full-time work as a Social Worker 2, or 12 months as a Social Worker 3/4 or Social Work Supervisor 1 or any combination of the above equaling 24 months shall be considered as qualified.
