    Job Summary

    The College of Architecture and Planning ( CAP ) at the University of Utah seeks a collaborative, creative, and motivated individual to join the CAP Advancement team in a newly created Development Officer role. This key member of the CAP Advancement team will help grow and deepen philanthropic support and alumni engagement across all four departments in the college, with special emphasis on the Division of Games. The Development Officer will be instrumental in planning strategic alumni and donor events, building a robust donor pipeline, and overseeing annual giving and stewardship initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    1. **Donor Pipeline Development (30%)**

    * Identify, engage, and qualify prospective donors, including upper-level annual donors, to move them toward major gift readiness.

    * 50% of pipeline development efforts will focus on Division of Games alumni and industry partners.

    * Partner with the Director of Advancement on cultivation and solicitation strategies.

    2. **Alumni and Donor Events (20%)**

    * Collaborate with department staff and faculty to develop meaningful engagement opportunities for alumni and donors, both locally and in key cities across the country.

    * Plan and execute alumni and donor events, including reunions, department-specific gatherings, and the college’s annual Gratitude Luncheon.

    3. **Donor Stewardship (20%)**

    * Manage a college-wide donor stewardship plan to ensure all donors are appropriately recognized and feel connected to the impact of their gifts.

    * Coordinate the creation and delivery of stewardship materials and impact reports.

    4. **Annual Giving (20%)**

    * Lead all annual giving efforts for the college and its departments, including strategy and execution for U Giving Day, direct mail, and email solicitations.

    * Track and analyze giving trends to inform outreach and campaign strategy.

    5. **Communications & Engagement (10%)**

    * Collaborate with the Associate Director of Communications to develop and implement a donor and alumni communications strategy.

    * Manage regular outreach including a monthly e-newsletter and department-specific updates.

    Minimum Qualifications

    **EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

    **Development Officer:** Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.

    Preferences

    * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

    * Minimum 3 -5 years of experience in fundraising, alumni relations, or related fields.

    * Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

    * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

    * Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

    * Ability to travel overnight outside the area.

    * Experience in higher education or a nonprofit setting.

    * Familiarity with architecture, design, planning, games, or related disciplines. Specific experience working with or knowledge of the video games industry a plus.

    * Experience with donor databases and email marketing tools.
