    Overview

     

    This position is responsible for complete oversight and providing direction to the plant's Chemistry and Environmental teams and programs. Manage the day to day environmental requirements and records that are required to comply with all environmental permits, regulations and company/plant policies.

    Responsibilities:

    + Manage and direct the Lab Supervisor & the associated team(s) to ensure proper water chemistry operations

    + Ensure all related maintenance is conducted properly, as needed and in a safe manner.

    + Comply with the maintenance scheduling requirements

    + Manage and direct the Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems & associated personnel to ensure proper operation and reporting in accordance with applicable permits and guidelines. This includes coordination with the maintenance groups and contractors needed to maintain the systems and equipment necessary for compliance including all testing, calibrations, PMs, and reports.

    + Manage and direct the Byproducts and associated team(s) to ensure proper operation and reporting in accordance with applicable permits and guidelines. This includes the landfill operations, ponds, dredging requirements, sampling, monitoring, reporting, product hauling, maintenance and outage support.

    + Manage and direct the FGD area and associated team(s) to ensure the safe, efficient operations of the entire scrubber area and associated equipment. This includes all compliance related activities, maintenance activities and operational activities that are required to meet the requirements and goals of the area.

    + Ensure all station departments are trained in accordance with permits and prevailing environmental regulatory requirements, and develop procedures to ensure the station personnel consistently interpret and comply with such requirements

    + Monitor, track, and educate station personnel about proposed and upcoming regulatory changes that could affect the station, and work with company personnel on action plans to ensure the facility will achieve compliance

    + Respond to environmental issues on an as-needed basis and make notifications to appropriate corporate personnel and regulatory agencies as incidents occur

    + Provide team members with timely, accurate information regarding company policies and guidelines, external events impacting the company and the utility industry and internal business plans and performance

    + Ensure all station departments are trained in accordance with permits and prevailing environmental regulatory requirements, and develop procedures to ensure the station personnel consistently interpret and comply with such requirements

    + Monitor, track, and educate station personnel about proposed and upcoming regulatory changes that could affect the station, and work with company personnel on action plans to ensure the facility will achieve compliance

    + Respond to environmental issues on an as-needed basis and make notifications to appropriate corporate personnel and regulatory agencies as incidents occur

    + Develop and manage compliance timeline including entering all environmental and chemistry reports into appropriate database

    + Develop, track, and report key metrics for each managed department to ensure teams are meeting obligations

    + Provide data and information for use in corporate environmental and performance reports

    + Monitors environmental trends in order to identify potential problems and recommend preventative or corrective action

    + Review technical adequacy of consultants' work product to verify that the project/plant interests as well as regulatory requirements are met

    + Recommends environmental strategies and goals to avoid environmental non-compliance situations

    + Perform other related duties as directed

    Requirements:

    + Previous Management/Supervisor experience required, at least 5 years is preferred.

    + 3 years’ experience in the environmental field required

    + Bachelor's degree is preferred.
