A Day in the Life:
As a Senior Engineer - Corporate Platforms, you’ll be the technical backbone behind Hertz’s financial transaction ecosystem — the systems that manage invoicing, settlement, recapture, refunds, and financial configuration across the enterprise.
You’ll work closely with Finance, Accounting, Payments, and Technology teams to ensure our financial processes are accurate, scalable, and resilient. In this role, you’ll not only sustain and enhance the current mainframe-based solutions but also architect the bridge to next-generation, cloud-based platforms that will define the future of our financial systems.
Your days will be a blend of hands-on problem-solving, root-cause analysis, design for modernization, and deep collaboration across teams. You’ll dive into legacy logic to understand how money moves through our systems today — then translate that into smarter, more automated, future-ready capabilities.
You’ll play a critical role in ensuring the continuity, reliability, and evolution of the systems that keep the business running — while also preparing for what’s next.
What You’ll Do:
+ Stabilize and Maintain Core Financial Systems:Own the health and performance of key financial applications supporting invoicing, settlements, refunds, and payment recapture.
+ Reverse Engineer & Document Legacy Logic:Decode and document current mainframe-based financial processes, ensuring critical knowledge is captured, shared, and ready for transition.
+ Design for Modernization:Partner with architects and finance product owners to define the blueprint for migrating legacy financial workflows to modern SaaS platforms.
+ Drive Process Automation & Efficiency:Identify opportunities to simplify and automate reconciliation, settlement, and refund handling through APIs, RPA, and microservices.
+ Ensure Accuracy and Compliance:Safeguard financial integrity through precise configuration, testing, and adherence to audit, SOX, and compliance requirements.
+ Collaborate Across Teams:Work with Finance, Accounting, and Payments partners to ensure end-to-end visibility and traceability of financial transactions.
+ Mentor and Cross-Train:Share knowledge across engineering teams to eliminate single points of failure and build organizational resilience.
+ Support Transformation Initiatives:Contribute to the planning and execution of the transition from mainframe to modern, cloud-based financial platforms — ensuring no business interruption during the journey.
We expect the starting salary to be around $125,000 with annual bonus and profit sharing eligibility. The actual salary will be determined based on years of relevant work experience.
What We’re Looking For:
+ Experience: 5+ years in software engineering or financial systems development, ideally supporting invoicing, settlements, or transactional platforms.
+ Technical Skills: Strong in procedural or mainframe-based systems (COBOL, DB2, JCL, or equivalent) and modern languages (Java, Python, C#, or similar) for migration readiness.
+ Analytical Strength: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to untangle complex legacy code and translate it into modern design logic.
+ Financial Acumen: Understanding of accounting, settlements, and reconciliation processes.
+ Transformation Mindset: Eagerness to learn, modernize, and bridge old and new technology stacks.
+ Communication: Clear, confident communicator who can explain technical and financial concepts across business and technology teams.
+ Collaboration: Works well with both legacy SMEs and modern product teams; able to influence without authority.
+ Adaptability: Thrives in ambiguity and can pivot between tactical problem-solving and strategic design thinking.
