    Responsibilities

    Provide diagnostic evaluation of pulmonary function in patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

     

    + Perform ordered pulmonary function and pulmonary stress testing.

    + Monitor, and evaluate patient response during, and after testing.

    + Document and report testing results.

    + Determine testing reference range and interpret results.

    + Recognize and correct for invalid test results.

    + Prepare, maintain and calibrate pulmonary function testing equipment.

    + Maintain adequate level of supplies used for testing.

    + Troubleshoot equipment problem and report needed repairs/replacements.

    + Provide education, and resources to patient, and/or patient's family based on clinical implications.

    Requirements

    Licensure / Certification / Registration:

    + BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

    + Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Maryland Board of Physicians obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

    + Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist accepted.

    + Respiratory Therapist specializing in Pulmonary Function credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Therapist accepted preferred.

    Education:

    + High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

    Additional Preferences

    + **Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Maryland Board of Physicians obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required**

    + **Certification or Registration as a Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required**

    + **Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Certified Pulmonary Function Technician (CPFT) preferred**
