    The Department of Surgery at the University of Virginia (UVA) invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Division of General Surgery, Section of Colorectal Surgery. The successful candidate will join a highly productive and growing clinical practice dedicated to the surgical management of diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. Track and tenure status will be determined by qualifications.

     

    Clinical responsibilities will include the care of patients with colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and complex anorectal disorders, with an emphasis on minimally invasive surgery, robotic techniques, and endoscopy. The position also includes active participation in medical student, resident, and post-graduate teaching. Clinical and laboratory research opportunities are available. Tenure eligibility is dependent upon qualifications.

     

    The ideal candidate will demonstrate comprehensive ability to provide surgical evaluation and management of colorectal patients at UVA. Enthusiastic participation in student and resident training and education is essential. Applicants should have a strong interest in a career in academic medicine, as evidenced by prior experience in research or teaching. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have a commitment to innovation, technology, and advancing the field of colorectal surgery.

    + Must have an MD and be board-certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery

    + Fellowship training and board eligibility/certification in Colon and Rectal Surgery

    + Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice in Virginia

    + Demonstrated strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills

    + Advanced knowledge and experience in colorectal surgery

    + Strong interest in academic medicine

    + Passion for innovation in the field of colorectal surgery
