    The Automation Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing industrial control panels and enclosures suitable for harsh environments, including PLC, remote I/O, operator stations, network, and drive cabinets (both DC and AC). This role involves component selection, sizing, and layout, primarily focusing on Engineer-to-Order (ETO) systems. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the drafting department and the automation engineering team to provide customized solutions that meet customer requirements.

    Responsibilities

    + Receive assignments from the hardware design lead.

    + Communicate with the project team on specific project requirements, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality aspects.

    + Collaborate with the drafting department to produce, review, check, and mark-up engineering drawings, including bills of material (BOM), panel layouts, and electrical schematics.

    + Determine appropriate part numbers for PLC, I/O, and drive equipment.

    + Size equipment, fusing, breakers, wires, power supplies, and more based on design specifications and sound engineering principles.

    + Create Input/Output lists in Excel using existing customer electrical drawings.

    + Ensure clear communication and attention to detail throughout the entire build and design phases.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in control panel design and layout.

    + Expertise in hardware and electrical design.

    + Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and CAD design.

    + Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens PLC, and related technologies.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience in industrial automation control equipment design.

    + Experience with PLCs (such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, and GE) and drives (such as Siemens, ABB) is strongly preferred.

    + CAD experience (2D and/or 3D) is advantageous.

    + Experience serving industrial customers and/or previous experience with designing industrial control enclosures to UL508A and NEC standards is a plus.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Eastlake, OH.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $40.87/hr.
