Job Title: Civil Engineer

Job Description

Join a mission-driven team as a Civil Engineer and contribute to transforming the global energy landscape. Your expertise will be crucial in providing risk analysis for development stage projects, producing conceptual mass grading plans, and conducting earthwork calculations to support internal project estimating packages. You will play a key role in identifying the need for deep foundations or soil mass replacements based on anticipated soil bearing capacity and other geotechnical/environmental issues.

Responsibilities

+ Collaborate in the efforts to review SWPPP documents.

+ Work with the Project Engineering team to review RFP packages to run a competitive process to select consultants.

+ Review civil structural design packages to ensure compliance with codes and standards.

+ Examine hydrology studies and conceptual site layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, accessibility, and roadway plans to support value engineering initiatives.

+ Review main structural design packages to ensure compliance with codes and standards and propose optimizations.

+ Assess design packages for foundations, supports, PV racking systems, and miscellaneous structures.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in Civil Engineering and related software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

+ Experience in land and site development, grading, and drainage.

+ Professional engineering certification (PE License) in at least one state, with preference for multiple state licenses.

+ Familiarity with civil and structural building codes (UBC, IBC, EC, ISO, etc.) and civil engineering standards (ASCE, ASTM, AWS, etc.).

+ At least 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Geotechnical/Water Resources Engineering.

+ Experience delivering desktop and site engineering packages and optimizations.

+ On-site experience delivering engineering solutions is highly valued.

+ Expertise in SWPPP design/implementation in conjunction with large-scale grading plans.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
