Job Description

As a Radiology Technician, you will play a crucial role in patient care by positioning patients and adjusting equipment for all routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. You will instruct patients about procedures and observe vital signs during examinations, ensuring safety and comfort throughout the process.

Responsibilities

+ Position patients and adjust equipment for routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures.

+ Instruct patients regarding procedures and observe their vital signs during examinations.

+ Follow prescribed safety standards in operating radiologic equipment and use radiation protection according to department policy.

+ Select the appropriate length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment for each individual patient.

+ Authorize the release of patients upon completion of imaging examinations.

+ Deliver diagnostic images to radiologists for reading and interpretation.

+ Administer contrast media correctly and provide appropriate instruction to patients.

+ Provide input for equipment and supply purchase decisions.

+ Perform fluoroscopic studies according to department protocols.

+ Maintain patient records accurately and efficiently.

+ Assume responsibility for supplying the area according to departmental needs.

+ Enhance professional growth through participation in educational programs, conferences, and workshops.

+ Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.

+ Assume responsibility for portions of the quality assurance program.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in radiology, X-ray, scanning, and imaging techniques.

+ Strong patient care skills.

+ Completion of an accredited course of study in radiologic technology or an Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology.

+ Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

+ Current state permit as a General Diagnostic Radiographer.

Qualifications

+ One year of experience as a radiology technician is preferred.

Work Environment

You will work at the Ames Main Clinic, with hours from Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm or 7:00am to 4:00pm, offering flexibility. Every eight weeks, you will work weekends from 8:00am to 12:00pm, earning an extra $2.50 per hour. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $47590.00 - $60070.00/yr.
