Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer specializing in Automation for a contract position with the potential for hire. The role involves supporting internal equipment that is installed and commissioned at various sites. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience in Controls Engineering, specifically with custom automated equipment.

Responsibilities

+ Support and troubleshoot internal equipment on a regular basis.

+ Perform PLC programming and HMI development.

+ Design electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical (preferred).

+ Program and troubleshoot Robotics, primarily with Fanuc.

+ Travel occasionally (10%) to install and commission equipment at various sites.

Essential Skills

+ 3+ years of experience in Controls Engineering for custom automation.

+ Proficiency in PLC programming, particularly Siemens and Rockwell Automation.

+ Experience with HMI/SCADA systems, especially WinCC and Ignition.

+ Familiarity with controls hardware including sensors, remote IO, servos, VFDs, machine vision, barcode readers.

+ Knowledge of industrial networking protocols: Profinet, Ethernet I/P, EtherCAT.

+ Experience with 6-axis robots, primarily FANUC.

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls and Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Experience with AutoCAD Electrical schematic design is a plus.

+ Exposure to various networking and communication protocols is advantageous.

Work Environment

The role is based at a site that builds custom equipment for manufacturing. The team consists of approximately 20-25 Controls Engineers along with Electrical design/drafting and Mechanical Engineering professionals. The position requires regular floor work to troubleshoot equipment and may involve occasional travel (10%) for installations and commissioning.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $75.00/hr.
