Posting Summary
This position is eligible for 100% remote work.
This position provides comprehensive post-award financial administration and compliance oversight for sponsored projects from setup through closeout. The role ensures accurate budget management, monitoring of expenditures, financial forecasting, effort allocation, and adherence to sponsor and university requirements. Serve as a primary resource for Principal Investigators and departments, partners closely with SPA Financial Analysts, and contributes to PI onboarding and training initiatives.
Budget Analysis & Compliance
+ Interpret sponsor regulations and coordinate with PIs to ensure compliance with award terms and conditions.
+ Facilitate regular budget meetings with PIs and research staff to support compliant project management.
+ Monitor award budgets, track unobligated balances, and prepare expenditure projections.
+ Review project expenditures to ensure costs are allowable, reasonable, allocable, and consistent.
+ Monitor and verify cost share commitments in alignment with sponsor and university guidelines.
+ Ensure deliverables and required reports are completed and submitted in accordance with sponsor requirements.
Effort Management
+ Oversee effort reporting and related compliance to meet federal and university standards.
+ Prepare and process salary distributions based on PI requests and effort review outcomes.
+ Provide guidance and training to PIs on effort regulations, requirements, and best practices.
+ Advise department leadership on PI funding status, anticipated support concerns, and potential conflicts of commitment.
Financial Management
+ Serve as a primary point of contact for PIs needing financial and administrative support during the post-award period.
+ Coordinate with SPA Award Acceptance to establish internal projects and subawards at the time of award.
+ Ensure project setup, including cost share, is completed accurately.
+ Review suspense accounts and initiate timely cost transfers.
+ Prepare and submit cost transfers in accordance with policy and sponsor requirements.
+ Work with departments to resolve budget errors and request rebudget actions within sponsor authority.
+ Support audit activities and site visits, collaborating with PIs and SPA compliance staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Education and work experience:
Bachelor’s Degree Finance, Business Administration or Accounting
Relevant Work Experience 2-4 years
Competencies:
Accounting and budgeting skills in managing complex financial accounts and funds, as well as knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles.
Working knowledge of contracts and grants transactions and applicable financial systems, as well as related policy requirements.
Demonstrated working knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor, and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Ability to work independently and as a team member, research and resolve problems, meet deadlines, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Independent judgment and strong organization and communication skills and customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Desirable Qualifications
3 years demonstrated experience in research contract and grant management.
Certified Research Administration ( CRA ) or Certified Financial Research Administration ( CFRA ) designation.
Anticipated Pay Range $66,898 - $75,573

Special Conditions A probationary period may be required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, This position is eligible for full-time telework in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
