GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

This position involves manual work that is often repetitive. This position requires standing in a designated area, controlling traffic flow, assisting the public with general information and/or assistance, and collecting parking fees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

+ Collects parking fees from designated workstations and can handle large sums of money.

+ Provides general information to the public.

+ May assist disabled citizens with parking and unloading.

+ May be required to participate in and/or facilitate training to support departmental or City initiatives and requirements.

+ May be required to work overtime, or alternate hours, as necessary for the efficient operation of the department.

+ Position is designated as Mission Critical.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

+ Performs related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE)

+ None

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

+ Must possess and maintain a valid telephone number.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE:

+ Knowledge of general mathematics.

ABILITIES:

+ Ability to deal with the public courteously.

+ Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.

+ Ability to exercise safety practices that the supervisor in charge prescribes.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

+ The job requires labor-intensive work and considerable walking.

+ The job risks exposure to environmental conditions, including extreme temperature changes, humid and wet conditions, traffic, bright/dim light, fumes/noxious odors, dust, and pollen.

+ The job requires normal visual acuity, field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception, and texture perception.
