Job Title: Retirement Plan ConsultantJob Description

The Retirement Plan Consultant serves as the main contact and compliance expert for employer-sponsored retirement plans, including 401(k), 403(b), profit-sharing, and Pooled Employer Plans (PEPs). This role ensures regulatory compliance while providing consulting and client service for both single-employer and pooled plans.

Responsibilities

+ Act as the primary consultant for plan sponsors and participating employers in PEPs.

+ Provide guidance on plan design, compliance testing, and fiduciary best practices.

+ Perform annual compliance testing and prepare Form 5500 filings.

+ Oversee onboarding and administration of adopting employers in PEPs.

+ Collaborate with Pooled Plan Providers, recordkeepers, and custodians.

+ Advise on plan mergers, terminations, and compliance corrections.

+ Stay current on legislative and regulatory updates impacting retirement plans.

Essential Skills

+ Strong knowledge in compliance and retirement plans.

+ Experience with compliance testing software.

+ Excellent customer service skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.

+ 4–8 years of experience in retirement plan administration with TPA or recordkeeper.

+ Experience managing both single-employer and pooled employer plans (PEPs).

+ Professional certifications (QKA, QPA, CPC, APA, APR) preferred.

+ Proficiency with Relius, FTWilliam, ASC, and Microsoft Excel.

Work Environment

This is a 100% remote role, with the company based out of West Des Moines. The company has 40 total employees, with roughly 10 on the TPA side.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of West Des Moines, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $33.65/hr.
