Job Summary
APTIM is seeking an experienced Field Work Superintendent with nuclear and radiological controls experience to support Decommissioning and Dismantlement (D&D) field operations at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in Niskayuna, NY. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Superintendent will oversee field staff and activities related to remediation and demolition. This role is an exempt position that requires strong leadership in hazard management, safety compliance, and regulatory adherence to ensure all work is executed in accordance with safety protocols and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
+ Supervise and oversee field teams, including 10--20 specialized craft performing soil remediation, excavation, and D&D of nuclear systems and structures.
+ Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
+ Develop and execute daily work plans and provide technical input into work control and planning documents.
+ Identify and resolve field issues promptly; escalate concerns to the Operations Manager as needed.
+ Lead, mentor, and develop field supervisors and craft personnel.
+ Support contract administration, change management, and project documentation.
+ Review, approve, and negotiate change orders.
+ Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections.
+ Maintain accurate daily field logs and records.
+ Foster strong client relationships and represent APTIM professionally on site.
+ Exercise stop-work authority when safety or compliance is compromised.
+ Assist the Operations Manager with day-to-day operational oversight and project completion planning.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent required.
+ Minimum 10 years of construction experience, with at least 5 years in a Superintendent or leadership role (preferably on USACE or DOE nuclear D&D projects).
+ Minimum 5 years of nuclear or hazardous waste experience, ideally within a decommissioning environment.
+ Demonstrated experience performing high-risk work in highly regulated settings.
+ Proven record of strong safety performance and sound judgment.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn APTIM systems and processes quickly.
+ Excellent organizational, administrative, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Experience in leadership, safety management, planning, and contract administration.
+ Construction Field Work Supervisor Qualification Card preferred.
+ Radiological Worker and HAZWOPER training desired.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $97,000 - $150,00 Per Year. Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
